Motion text

That this House notes the need to improve mobile digital connectivity, particularly in rural areas; welcomes the collaborative Shared Rural Network proposal developed by the UK’s four mobile operators, under which they would share infrastructure in rural areas to increase 4G coverage in all four nations of the UK; and calls on the Government to back the Shared Rural Network by delivering the necessary support, planning and regulatory reform to put mobile connectivity on an equal footing with other essential services and to allow mobile operators to implement the Shared Rural Network, which would deliver better connectivity to consumers and businesses in rural and remote areas.
