MANIFESTO FOR RADIOTHERAPY

EDM (Early Day Motion) 2624: tabled on 18 July 2019

Tabled in the 2017-19 session.

This motion has been signed by 34 Members. It has not yet had any amendments submitted.

Motion text

That this House welcomes the Manifesto for Radiotherapy; recognises that one in two people will develop cancer in their lifetime; further recognises that although needed in over 50 per cent of cases, access to radiotherapy in England varies from 25 per cent to 49 per cent depending on the region, with the average around 38 per cent; notes with concern that the cancer strategy does not provide adequate funding to provide a world class radiotherapy service; and urges the Government to ring-fence £250 million of the £20 billion promised to the NHS for a one-off investment to fully modernise radiotherapy and to increase the annual radiotherapy budget from five per cent of the cancer budget to 6.5 per cent to meet future demand and improve patient outcomes.
