Motion text
That this House notes the exceptional contribution that charities make to the fabric of British society; acknowledges that regulation of charities is essential to ensure their high standards of operation; further notes that some charitable organisations have fallen below the standards expected of them, which brings the reputation of all charities into disrepute; observes that some charities that break laws and regulations are not properly investigated by the Charities Commission; and calls on the Government to provide more resources to the Charities Commission to properly investigate charities that break laws and regulations in order to preserve the sector’s good reputation.
