That this House notes and supports World Suicide Prevention Day on 10 September 2019; extends sympathy to every home that has been touched by the loss of a loved one through suicide; welcomes the exceptional work done by individuals, charities and awareness groups in Wales to offer support and coping strategies to those who may be contemplating suicide or struggling with their mental health; notes the tragic loss of Gavin Pugh from Porthmadog to suicide; supports events taking place in Cardiff and Porthmadog on 10 September in Gavin’s memory; recognises the efforts of Hebog running club in organising the run in Porthmadog; further notes that male suicide rates in Wales have been described as a national emergency by the Welsh Assembly Social Care and Sport Committee; and recognises the importance of Government funding in mental health care on suicide prevention and the necessity of making mental health an equal priority to physical health.
