Motion text
That this House congratulates Parkinson's UK Lanarkshire and Glasgow South Branch on reaching its 15th anniversary year of providing information, friendship and support to local people with Parkinson's, their families and carers; recognises that the group is led by volunteers who are committed to using their experiences of Parkinson's to support others who live with that condition; notes that the branch is one of around 40 Parkinson's UK local groups in Scotland and over 350 across the UK; commends the group on its activities with its 150 members based across South Lanarkshire, Southern Glasgow and East Renfrewshire; further notes that the group provides two well-attended exercise classes as well as a Friday social drop in session each and every week, along with regular outings and social activities; welcomes the news that The Big Lottery Fund has awarded £10,000 of funding to support the group's important activities this year; and believes that the Parkinson's UK Lanarkshire and Glasgow South Branch and other Parkinson's UK local groups play a vital role in improving lives and making sure that nobody needs to face Parkinson's alone.
