CARNOCK PRIMARY SCHOOL ACHIEVES PLASTIC-FREE STATUS

Motion text

That this House congratulates Carnock primary school in West Fife on being awarded plastic-free status by marine conservation charity Surfers Against Sewage; understands that it has joined a network of like-minded schools across the UK that are spearheading efforts to reduce the use of disposable plastic by achieving a number of objectives, including establishing a sustainability committee and creating a plastic-free legacy for their school; notes that pupils at Carnock primary school have set their own sustainability goals and introduced initiatives such as drinking from reusable water bottles to avoid having to purchase single-use plastic bottles; further notes that pupils have launched a sustainable tuck shop with all products sold loose or in reusable containers and that pupils make their own crisps, popcorn and fruit salad, all of which are packaging-free; and pays credit to the pupils and staff at Carnock primary school for their outstanding efforts in achieving this remarkable accolade.
