Motion text
That this House welcomes the news that Dundee now has the highest concentrations of electric vehicles (EVs) in the UK supported by one of the first hubs in the country to combine EV charging with on-site storage and renewable generation; notes that the city now has more than 130 electric taxis, 30 per cent of the city's buses are now electric and Dundee City Council now has the largest fleet of electric vehicles of any local authority in the UK, with 87 to date; further notes that nine out of the top 10 most used rapid chargers in Scotland are located in Dundee; notes that the infrastructure, designed and built by Scottish Gas owner Centrica, will save an estimated 122 tonnes of carbon emissions in the first year; and asserts that, in the countdown to COP26, Dundee is showing the way in adopting use of ultra-low emission vehicles as Scotland progresses towards the Scottish Government's aim to phase out the need for new petrol and diesel cars and vans by 2032.
