That this House recognises the life and work of John Foley, a long standing trades unionist and anti-apartheid campaigner; sends condolences to his family at this time; recognises his work as a shop steward in the Clyde's shipyards from early in his life and career both industrially and in the broader trade union movement; further recognises his work with the anti-apartheid movement in Scotland, campaigning for the release of Nelson Mandela and the ending of apartheid in South Africa; recalls contribution with the Clyde district of the Confederation of Shipbuilding and Engineering Unions; recognises the esteem in which he was held by his many friends and colleagues; and offers condolences to all who knew him at this time.
