Motion text
That this House congratulates postal workers and the Communication Workers Union on the result of their recent ballot for strike action; notes that the ballot returned a 97 per cent vote in favour of strike action on a turnout of 76 per cent; acknowledges that this surpasses the requirements of the Trade Union Act 2016; acknowledges that postal workers voted in favour of strike action because of Royal Mail’s refusal to stick to the four pillars agreement and to abandon their plans to sell off Parcelforce; supports postal workers in taking strike action; urges Royal Mail to listen to the concerns of postal workers and respond positively; and calls on the Government to scrap the Trade Union Act 2016 which undermines the right to strike in the UK.
