Motion text

That this House expresses its support for the people of the Republic of South Sudan; asks all parties to uphold their commitments to peace and dialogue as outlined in the 2018 revitalised peace agreement; calls on the incumbent Government and other signatories of the peace agreement to create a secure enabling environment for all relevant political leaders to participate actively in the formation of the Revitalised Transitional Government of National Unity (RTGoNU) and post-conflict development; urges all parties to resolve peacefully the remaining political issues for negotiation during the Pre-Transitional Period before the extended deadline of 12 November 2019 leading to the establishment of a RTGoNU; further urges all parties to cease hostilities, to enable the delivery of humanitarian assistance and to release all political prisoners; and further calls on the UK Government and its partners to continue to provide immediate life-saving assistance to meet the dire humanitarian needs of the South Sudanese people and to monitor the implementation of the UNMISS mandate authorised by United Nations ensuring that any return or relocation of internally displaced persons from United Nations protection of civilian sites are safe, informed, voluntary, dignified and conducted in co-ordination with humanitarian actors.
