Motion text

That this House is deeply concerned by the lack of progress on rebuilding the Corstorphine Community Centre after a devastating fire in 2013; notes the delay has left many communities groups in Edinburgh without an accessible and adequate venue for activities; recognises the historical importance of the Corstorphine Public Hall to the local community; regrets that Edinburgh City Council has found plans to create a community hub at the hall unfeasible; values the importance of community centres in building belonging and inclusion within communities; acknowledges that local authorities across the country are struggling to fund community projects due to funding cuts at both Westminster and Holyrood; and calls upon the Edinburgh City Council to come up with a solution to ensure the community has a vibrant and versatile community space.
