Motion text
That this House commends the invaluable contributions made by all individuals who have committed their time to organising and volunteering for local mutual aid community initiatives; recognises that the meaning and value of neighbours and community has developed an ever greater significance and role, especially for the most vulnerable in society; affirms that the compassionate actions demonstrated within communities are testament to the strength of those communities; notes, amongst others, the efforts undertaken by the Ferry Go-For Group, the Coronavirus Volunteering Edinburgh Group and Corstorphine Corona Help and Information Group by providing essential services such as food shopping, collecting prescriptions and kindness calls to the vulnerable in their communities; and is therefore comforted and grateful in the knowledge that at this time of great separation amongst family and friends that these mutual aid initiatives have taken up the mantle to deliver such services to their communities.
