Motion text
That this House welcomes the Scottish Government’s establishment of Consumer Scotland, a new consumer body which will be operational by next year; understands that it will be dedicated to protecting the interests of consumers, focusing on campaigning on issues that particularly affect people in Scotland and will conduct in-depth investigations to identify and address causes of consumer harm; notes that it is extremely important to have a powerful advocacy voice for consumers; expresses confidence that Consumer Scotland will help to ensure that a fairer Scotland means fairer outcomes for consumers; and highlights that more could be done to protect consumers in Scotland if consumer law was devolved to the Scottish Parliament.
