Motion text
That this House commends the outstanding work of community volunteers across North Ayrshire and Arran, who are selflessly offering their time and resources to support their local communities through the coronavirus pandemic; understands that more than 150 people have signed up to help in community hubs operating throughout our communities, providing a point of contact for information and support; recognises that volunteers are conducting daily check-in phone calls to local residents, providing much-needed human connection for those who are socially isolated, as well as delivering essential items such as food and prescriptions for those who are shielding; applauds the huge effort which has meant the delivery of food parcels to almost 4,000 households every week, for families in receipt of free school meals as well as the most vulnerable residents; acknowledges that much of this food is being provided by local food suppliers, providing fresh, nutritious food that is so important in staying healthy at this time; also appreciates that many local shops and cafes are also participating in this community effort; pays tribute to all involved in this wonderful community effort across North Ayrshire and all those working tirelessly to ensure that the most vulnerable residents are not left behind during these extremely challenging times.
