Motion text
That this House notes that Openreach engineer Scott McPartlin, who hails from Rutherglen, camped out on the island of Coll for three days to reconnect islanders following a lightning strike; understands that Scott camped on Feall Beach and undertook several three mile hikes to reach the most remote parts of the island to fix the broadband to residential properties and the island’s medical practice; celebrates Scott’s intrepid efforts as the so-called Openreach's Bear Grylls to ensure that some of the most vulnerable and isolated communities can stay connected during the coronavirus pandemic; believes that Scott’s actions are a shining example of the heroic efforts that key workers are doing across Scotland to keep critical national infrastructure running; and thanks each and every one of them for keeping people safe during this time of national crisis.
