The future of regional connectivity
EDM #585
Tabled 09 June 2020
2019-21 Session
That this House expresses concern at the future of regional connectivity in the wake of the collapse of Flybe and the impact of the covid-19 pandemic; notes that regional airports saw up to 90 per cent of flights cancelled following the withdrawal of Flybe operations; understands that the pandemic has further strained the operations of regional airports across the UK; appreciates the vital role played by regional airports in the economic and cultural lives of the areas they serve; welcomes the decision by the Scottish Government to provide 100 per cent business rates relief to the aviation sector; and calls on the UK Government to support the wider aviation sector and work urgently on a strategic plan to sustain and improve regional connectivity in the aftermath of the covid-19 pandemic.
