That this House applauds Older & Active in East Kilbride for the immense support they provide to older people in East Kilbride; notes that Older & Active provide an opportunity for older and disabled people to meet and get to know one another and offer a range of health and wellbeing activities; commends Older & Active for trying to reduce the isolation felt by older residents living in East Kilbride, and acting as a lifeline for many people who may be struggling with mental health issues; acknowledges the support Older & Active have continued to provide during the covid-19 pandemic, such as delivering prescriptions, shopping for at risk groups and offering emotional support over the telephone; praises Older & Active for creating the Well Connected in East Kilbride mental health support service with the East Kilbride Citizens Advice Bureau, which includes a dedicated mental health adviser and provides a range of support and activities to connect people and combat isolation and loneliness, such as remote arts and crafts classes; further notes the role of the East Kilbride Citizens Advice Bureau in providing invaluable generalist advice to members of the community, such as on legal and finance issues, and their quick response to the challenges created by covid-19 to help people cope; and thanks Older & Active and the East Kilbride Citizens Advice Bureau for helping older residents in East Kilbride and for their hard work to ensure that they continue to offer support during this incredibly difficult time.
