Motion text

That this House warmly congratulates the Republic of Ireland on securing a seat on the UN Security Council; believes that Ireland is a great force for good in the world; recognises the Republic’s historic and selfless contribution to UN peacekeeping efforts; notes that smaller countries can play a central role at the highest councils of the world; also congratulates Mexico, India and Norway on election to the UN Security Council; and recognises President Higgins's endeavours towards peace-building and peacekeeping, the elimination of global poverty, the strengthening of multi-lateralism and reform of the UN.
