That this House congratulates The Royal Society of Biology on organizing the first ever online Parliamentary Links Day on Tuesday 14 July 2020 on behalf of the science and engineering community; applauds the theme of Public Trust in Science at a time when science is crucial to the future of the UK and the world; welcomes the Society’s continuing commitment to serve the public interest; notes the involvement of the Institute of Physics, Royal Society of Edinburgh, Council for the Mathematical Sciences, British Pharmacological Society, Biochemical Society, Physiological Society, Geological Society, British Ecological Society, Nutrition Society, Royal Society of Chemistry, Society for Applied Microbiology, Society for Experimental Biology, Genetics Society, British Society of Immunology and others; notes that Links Day will be launched by the Deputy Speaker and include contributions from Rt hon. Member for Tunbridge Wells and hon. Members for Derby North and Newcastle Central; further notes the contributions from eminent scientists including the President of the Royal Society, President of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, President of the University of Manchester, immediate past President of the Royal Statistical Society and the Government’s Chief Scientific Adviser; notes that Parliamentary Links Day is an established and respected event on the annual Parliamentary calendar; notes that the Royal Society of Biology and the scientific community remains committed to assisting Members on all sides of the House with access to scientific advice; and welcomes the continuing contribution that Parliamentary Links Day makes to strengthening the dialogue between Parliament and the science and engineering community.
