Motion text
That this House acknowledges there are over 1.1 million children with disabilities throughout the UK and highlights the benefits of respite care for those children; raises its concerns about the quality of provision of children’s respite care; notes that according to the Disabled Children’s Partnership there is a funding gap of £434 million for children’s social care services; further notes that common complaints about the respite care system include a lack of communication, lack of transparency and availability of services; recognises that covid-19 has exacerbated those problems with the majority of families? experiencing a suspension in the provision of that care; and calls on the Government to review the respite care system and to place children and their families at the heart of that process.
