Motion text
That this House notes that the delivery charges to people in remote locations are disproportionately high despite people paying the same taxes as the rest of the UK; further notes the effect of those high charges on SMEs and the economy in remote areas; acknowledges that the solution to the problem is not simply clearer advertising of the charges but a cap on delivery charges to remote areas; recognises the great work of the Citizens Advice Bureau Caithness in drawing attention to the issue; and calls on the Government to give the Competition and Markets Authority the power to authorise the cap on delivery charges to all areas of the UK.
