Scottish fishing and the effects of the UK-EU Trade and Co-operation Agreement

EDM (Early Day Motion) 1313: tabled on 30 December 2020

Tabled in the 2019-21 session.

This motion has been signed by 19 Members. It has not yet had any amendments submitted.

Motion text

That this House notes that the UK-EU Trade and Co-operation Agreement ties UK fishing fleets into a continuing Common Fisheries Policy with quotas of total allowable catch being allocated through agreement with the EU which will mean decreasing allowable catches for Scottish boats; further notes that any termination of the fishing heading will also terminate the agreements on trade, aviation and transport under FISH17; considers that fishing communities will consider this a betrayal and that the promised Seas of Opportunity have become lost opportunities; and calls on the Government to address the concerns of the Scottish fishing industry on fishing quotas.
