Motion text
That this House welcomes the vital role that the freight and logistics industry has played during the covid-19 health pandemic; congratulates that industry for keeping supply chains moving and ensuring that goods including food and medical supplies continue to be delivered; recognises that some parts of that sector, particularly firms involved in events haulage were decimated early in the covid-19 pandemic; calls for greater recognition for those businesses and drivers who have been the unsung heroes of that pandemic; recognises that many parts of that sector have additionally had to cope with significant procedural changes as a result of the UK leaving the EU; and calls on the Government to ensure that the freight and logistics industry continues to be supported on key challenges including those relating to skills shortages, infrastructure and climate change.
