That this House welcomes the first ever Loss and Damage Awareness Day on 23 September 2021; recognises that many of the communities worst affected by loss and damage are also the world's poorest communities; recognises the obligations of developed countries to support developing countries to mitigate the disastrous impacts of climate change; believes that, as chair of COP26, the Government should ensure that developed countries fulfil their pledge to deliver at least $100 billion per year to help developing countries decarbonise their economies and protect against climate impacts; and calls on the Government to ensure a just transition to a greener economy for those communities that are employed by the fossil fuel industry.
