Motion text

That this House notes that on 27 September 2021 Guinness World Records confirmed that 29 year old Josh Quigley from Livingston broke the record for the greatest distance cycled in one week, unpaced; understands that he did so by completing laps of an 80-mile route between Aberdeen and the Cairngorms, finishing at 04:00, beating the previous record holder Australian pro-cyclist Jack Thompson's record by clocking up 2,179.66 miles (3,508kms); he did so after being diagnosed with arthritis earlier this year which forced him to pull out of the record attempt in April; congratulates him on setting the new world record; and wishes him every success for the future.
