Motion text
That this House congratulates Royal DSM Dalry, North Ayrshire, following the announcement that it will be the first global production facility for a ground-breaking £100 million investment, backed by Scottish Enterprise, to reduce methane using a feed additive; notes that DSM already employs over 300 people in at its world-leading Dalry plant for micro-nutrients, including vitamin C; understands that just a quarter of a teaspoon of Bovaer its safe, revolutionary new product will cut methane emissions from dairy cows by over 30 per cent and 90 per cent from beef cattle, thereby delivering a strong sustainable export product; acknowledges this is a crucial step in supporting farming communities in their fight against climate change and therefore, an important contributor to carbon reduction; recognises that this project will increase employment at DSM Dalry by 10 per cent or 30 people, as well as ensuring over 100 construction roles over the next two years, boosting the local economy and securing the facility’s long-term future; and commends Royal DSM for their dedication to fighting global warming and supporting Scotland’s aim to achieving its climate ambitions and wishes the facility the best with this exciting project and in its future endeavours.
