Govan Housing Association's 50th anniversary

That this House congratulates Govan Housing Association as it celebrates its momentous 50th anniversary; recognises that, when founded in 1971 under the name Central Govan Housing Association, it was the first community-based housing provider, leading the way for social housing provision in Scotland; notes that Govan Housing Association has a rich history of development and innovation, initially set up to carry out rehabilitation of 212 tenement flats in Taransay Street in Govan; further notes that Govan Housing Association now has ownership and management of over 1600 properties in the local area, including many award-winning new build developments that have assisted with the continual regeneration of Govan; proudly acknowledges Govan Housing Association’s rich history of pioneering housing achievements; and wishes it, all its staff and its tenants and the wider community involved with it, all the best for the future.
