Motion text
That this House regrets the decision of Barclays to announce further high street closures, including Porthmadog and Caernarfon branches; recognises that communities and charities rely on high street banks and that 30 per cent of people in Wales want to be able to access a bank branch regularly; notes that 7.5 per cent of people in rural Wales are more than 16 kilometres from their closest bank; welcomes the Welsh Government’s announcement to establish a Community Bank of Wales and Banc Cambria’s intention to open high street branches in Wales, and calls on the UK Government to support the establishment of these banks.
