Motion text
That this House deplores the brutal murder of Priyantha Diyawadanage, a Sri Lankan national, who was tortured to death and whose body was then burnt on 3 December 2021 in Sialkot, Pakistan; urges the Pakistan authorities to launch a full investigation into the death; believes the antiquated presence of blasphemy laws fuels discrimination on the grounds of religion or belief; urges the Government to encourage other Government's to repeal blasphemy laws and condemn civilian violence inspired by accusations of blasphemy; and calls on the Government to raise this horrific case with Pakistan’s highest authorities.
