East Lothian Horizons help for refugees

That this House commends East Lothian Horizons, a volunteer group from across the East Lothian county, who have recently had their Home Office application for the Community Sponsorship Scheme accepted to secure a suitable means for refugees to be welcomed into East Lothian; congratulates the volunteer group on having their Home Office application approved in principle, after sending their application in earlier this year; understands that the Community Sponsorship Scheme enables local groups to sponsor a family currently supported by the UN High Commission of Refugees, and as soon as the group secure a suitable property refugees can be welcomed; praises the groups' empathy and kind-heartedness towards refugees, including involving schools in fundraising walkathons, and more; and wishes the group, made up by Niki Fallowfield, Mhairi Dickie, Jenni Lai, Ruth Peck, Leigh Pleasance, Elisabeth Ritchie and Tara Wright, the very best of luck with homing refugees in East Lothian, and the best of luck with their futures.
