Dame Sally Mapstone, University of St Andrews

That this House congratulates the Principal of the University of St Andrews, Sally Mapstone, on her award of a damehood in the Platinum Jubilee birthday honours; acknowledges that this reflects the exceptional leadership and commitment demonstrated by Professor Dame Sally Mapstone during one of the most difficult periods in the 600 year history of Scotland’s oldest university; considers that this is also a reflection of the work of all staff and students at the University of St Andrews who have assisted the response to the pandemic, shown leadership in tackling the climate emergency and the University’s achievement in becoming Scotland’s first institution to be ranked first in the United Kingdom in the Times Good University Guide 2022; and is grateful to both Principal Mapstone and everyone at the University of St Andrews for their hard work and service and welcomes this deserved recognition.
