Motion text

That this House pays tribute to the heroism, dedication and skill of Kinghorn RNLI Lifeboat Station staff and volunteers; notes that Kinghorn Lifeboat Station is located within the picturesque harbour of Kinghorn and houses a B class Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat; further notes that the lifeboat covers the south Fife coastline, as well as parts of Edinburgh; recognises that at the heart of operations are ordinary people who do extraordinary and selfless things; further recognises the bravery of the lifeboat crews and lifeguards, who risk their own lives to save others, the generous supporters who make their lifesaving actions possible, and the selfless volunteers, who devote their time and energy to support the dedicated staff working tirelessly behind the scenes; acknowledges that RNLI lifeguards are equipped not only with the best training but the best equipment to deal with any eventuality; further acknowledges that RNLI lifeboat volunteers and search and rescue helicopter crews can respond to a situation within minutes as every second counts; gives thanks for the leadership of operations manager Joanne Wibberley, RNLI Lifeguards and all volunteers, support staff and crew; celebrates that since its establishment in 1965 there have been a 1,018 lifeboat launches and one hundred and ninety-nine lives saved and in 2021 alone there were 74 launches saving a further nine lives and aiding 55 people in distress; and recognises that the RNLI works in partnership with local authorities and beach owners to make our beaches safer for everyone.
