Mike Edwards OBE, Scotland's Army Reservist of the Year 2022

That this House congratulates Mike Edwards, Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Dunbartonshire on being awarded an OBE for public and charitable service in Scotland in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Birthday Honours List, and also for being named Army Reservist of the Year at the Scottish Veterans Awards 2022; notes that in attaining the rank of Major in the Army Reserve, Mike has given nearly 30 years of dedicated service with the Royal Regiment of Scotland, service that has included two tours of duty in Iraq and in Afghanistan; sincerely thanks him for his tireless work promoting charitable causes including the Erskine veterans charity, the Royal Highland Fusiliers Trust, the Highlanders Regimental Museum at Fort George, the Loch Lomond Rescue Boat and the Glasgow Humane Society; further recognises the immense contribution Mike Edwards has made to Scottish broadcasting and journalist during his 40 year career working in newspapers, radio and television outlets across Scotland, most notably as Senior Reporter with STV for many years; and wishes him continued success in the future.
