That this House mourns the passing of Simon Cole QPM, who served as Chief Constable of Leicestershire Police with distinction between June 2010 and March 2022; recognises that Simon admirably prioritised community engagement and progressed issues of diversity throughout his career; notes that Simon worked tirelessly on issues relating to disabilities as he led nationally for the National Police Chiefs’ Council on disability issues until March 2016; further notes that Simon represented the National Police Chiefs’ Council on the Prime Ministers’ Dementia Task Force, and was acknowledged by the Employers’ Forum on Disability in 2012 as their Emergency Services Disability Champion in the Disability Standards Award; notes that Simon’s most recent accolade was the Sir Robert Peel Medal in 2020 by the Institute of Criminology at Cambridge University for Outstanding Leadership in Evidence Based Policing; holds that Simon’s immense contribution to Leicestershire’s community is encapsulated by his many voluntary roles, including at the University of Leicester, De Montfort University, Leicestershire Guides and Scouts; and passes its deepest condolences to Simon’s family and loved ones.
