Motion text
This House congratulates the Eaglesham Fair Committee on the success of the Eaglesham Fair, which celebrates its 350th anniversary in 2022; notes that the Eaglesham Fair, which was created after an Act of the Scottish Parliament in 1672 allowed the village to host a fair day, attracts thousands of visitors to the village from across East Renfrewshire and beyond; applauds the tireless work of the committee to ensure that, not only does the day run smoothly, but visitors are able to enjoy a fantastic day out; understands that, in addition to raising fair funds, this year's fair also supported fundraising for Alzheimer's Scotland and the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice; welcomes the wide variety of activities organised on the fair weekend, including races, dog shows, parades, scarecrow competitions, baking competitions, craft competitions, miniature garden competitions, historical exhibitions, historical walks, open gardens, football matches, community quizzes, treasure hunts, a disco, stalls, a funfair, musical performances and the highly-anticipated crowning of the fair queen; and wishes the fair committee, whose members remain focused on providing the local community with events and support, every continued success.
