That this House notes the 40th anniversary of the qualification for the World Cup Finals by the Northern Ireland Football Quad in 1982; further notes Northern Irelands performance in Group 5 by winning the group outright and performing excellently in all of their matches; highlights their valiant attempts as Northern Ireland players eliminated Yugoslavia and beat hosts Spain 1-0 and continued to carry on with only ten players; further highlights the excellent work of Northern Ireland player Norman Whiteside who was the youngest player to partake in a World Cup match; remembers the fantastic efforts by football manager Billy Bingham who took Northern Ireland into this World Cup; and encourages young footballers throughout every region of this United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to pursue their dream and strive to represent their country at this world class top level in the years to come.
