Motion text
That this House congratulates St Albert’s Primary School in Pollokshields for winning the Curriculum Innovation award at the Scottish Education Awards; applauds the school’s We Can Be Heroes project, a collection of 18 short stories featuring BAME characters; notes the importance of diversity and representation in literature, so that children can see themselves and their experiences reflected in what they read; further notes pupils’ positive response to the programme, which has resulted in increased confidence and a feeling of being listened to; recognises the programme’s contribution towards the school motto of creating conscience-led communities; and thanks teachers at the school for contributing, at length, to a positive and welcoming learning environment for all pupils.
