Motion text
That this House congratulates Eilish McColgan on her inspirational victory in the 10,000m at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games; further congratulates the Dundonian long-distance runner on her time of 30:40.68, a new Games Record; recognises the role both her club, Dundee Hawkhill Harriers, and her coaching team have had in her victory; notes that Eilish’s gold medal follows her mother Liz’s successes at the Commonwealth Games in the same event at both the 1986 and 1990 Commonwealth Games; further notes that earlier this year Eilish set a new British and European record for 10km at the Great Manchester Run and a new Scottish national record for the 10,000m at the FBK Games; and wishes Eilish and all at Dundee Hawkhill Harriers all the best for the rest of the season.
