Motion text
That this House puts on record its appreciation for the hard work and dedication of Fraser and Margo Neilson on their 30th year of hosting an open garden in Clarkston; notes that they provided a tea-room, and a model train set which takes up half of the garden; further appreciates that the running of the open garden would not have been possible without the generous support and contributions from family members, friends, and neighbours; acknowledges that the open garden is facilitated so that all money raised is donated to local charities or national charities which have a local presence, most recently raising £1,376 for the Dementia Dog Project in 2019; and recognises that funds raised this year will be donated to Rebecca Rocks (associated with the Robin House Child Hospice) and the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice Glasgow; understands that the open garden has attracted attention from across Scotland and out with Scotland, with a recent donation from as far away as Switzerland; and wishes Fraser, Margo, and all those who contribute to the open garden all the best for the future.
