Motion text
That this House recognises the vast contribution and dedication of Brendan Harris as he stands down as the Leader of the 145th Glasgow Scout Group in Giffnock; notes that Brendan has been involved with the group for 29 years, first joining the group in 1993 and then becoming the leader in 1995; appreciates that Brendan had a talent for recruiting adult leaders to support the young people of East Renfrewshire and under his guidance several thousand young people have benefited from their involvement with the 145th, with many young people eventually returning to volunteer as leaders themselves; puts on record that Brendan and the wider team have developed adventurous activities and expeditions, including international experiences for the benefit of young people; further notes that Brendan was awarded the Silver Acorn for outstanding scouting service by the Chief Scout in 2017; and wishes Brendan and everyone involved with the 145th Glasgow Scout Group the very best for the future.
