Motion text
That this House celebrates the release of Y Swn, a Welsh language film reimagining the events that led to the establishment of the world’s only Welsh language television channel, S4C; notes that the film depicts the efforts of campaigners including Plaid Cymru’s first MP, Gwynfor Evans, to secure this important national institution; commends writer Roger Williams and director Lee Haven Jones for bringing this important story to the screen; notes that the film’s release coincides with S4C’s 40th anniversary; further notes the filmmakers’ aim to spark a conversation among audiences today about the power of protest, the future of broadcasting and the health of the Welsh language; and congratulates the cast and crew on the positive response to the film’s theatrical release.
