Motion text
That this House congratulates Williamwood High School on achieving an Eco Green Flag award for their intensive efforts to improve the school’s local environment; notes that over 40 projects were carried out by students and staff over a difficult two-year period which coincided with the covid-19 pandemic; further notes that the school’s Eco Committee played an important role in the drive to achieve the Eco Green Flag award; understands that the Eco Committee produced an environmental pledge which held all pupils and staff responsible for the school environment and encouraged active travel and the use of public transport as an alternative to travel by car; highlights that an environmental review conducted in 2020 set out three major stands of work, including global citizenship which involved donating used clothing to refugee charities, health and wellbeing, which focused on increasing cycling rates, and litter, which involved the introduction of reusable plastic plates and water bottles; and wishes all the pupils and staff at Williamwood High School well as they continue their important environmental work.
