That this House pays tribute to the contribution of Professor Medwin Hughes, who will retire from his post as Vice Chancellor of University of Wales Trinity St David and Vice Chancellor of the University of Wales at the end of July 2023; notes that Professor Hughes is Wales’ longest serving Vice Chancellor, following 23 years of service; notes that Professor Hughes has reshaped the higher education landscape in Wales; further notes his contribution in preserving Carmarthen and Lampeter as university towns; welcomes the appointment of Professor Elwen Evans KC to replace Professor Hughes; and looks forward to witnessing the continuing transformative journeys of both institutions and their contributions to higher education in Wales.
