That this House congratulates Emma Dean, the ten-year-old dancer from East Renfrewshire, on her stunning success at the Dance World Cup in Portugal; notes the competition is the world’s largest all-genre dance competition with some 7,500 dancers competing from across the world; highlights Emma’s terrific achievements at the competition, winning gold for tap, silver for acro, and placing sixth for jazz dance; appreciates that Emma’s success in Portugal adds to an already impressive record of wins as Emma is currently the Scottish juvenile ballet, modern, and acro dance champion following the Scottish Championships in April 2023; understands Emma attends Dancebase Academy and Performing Arts in the Vale of Leven; commends the work of Lindsey Donald, the principal teacher and founder of Dancebase, in helping Emma to prepare for the competition; further notes that Emma underwent an intense training schedule in preparation for the competition, training five to six times per week; and wishes Emma all the best for future competitions.
