Motion text
That this House remembers the Harrods bombing which took place on 17 December 1983, in which a car bomb placed by the IRA took the lives of three police officers, three civilians and injured more than 90 people; highlights the 37-minute warning which did not give enough time to clear the area on the Saturday before Christmas Eve, the busiest shopping day of the year; expresses our sincere and continuing sympathy to those who live without a loved one and those who live with the physical and emotional impact of that dreadful atrocity designed to take lives and injure as many as possible in the lead up to Christmas; and condemns utterly the actions of the IRA and Sinn Fein who defended them and continue to attempt to justify and eulogise those who engaged in despicable life changing activities.
