Motion text

That this House congratulates Hopscotch Theatre Company, based in Govan in Glasgow South West constituency, on their award of a £24,010 grant from the People’s Postcode Lottery; understands this funding will be used to put on their production of Plop! In the Ocean, which is an ancient Greek comedy for children aged between eight and 12; notes that the show was created using the diaries and experiences of Sarah Mooney, former Roald Dahl Foundation storyteller, sailing across the Atlantic Ocean with a group of twelve female-identifying scientists who were studying the impacts of plastic pollution and ocean toxicity on our seas; supports the aims of the production to educate children and young people, in an age appropriate way, about the dangers of plastic pollution to our oceans and the small everyday actions we can all make to change this; further supports Hopscotch Theatre Company’s plan to tour the production to thirty primary schools in Edinburgh and the North East of Scotland, with each school receiving an hour long performance of Plop! along with a creative resource pack to support pupils learning before and after the production; and wishes Hopscotch Theatre Company good luck with their production and success in all its future endeavours.
