That this House congratulates the young musicians who picked up awards at the East Lothian Council Young Musician of the Year 2024 held at St Mary's Parish Church in Haddington; praises flautist Leila Maycock from Knox Academy on winning the competition, who will travel to the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland to represent East Lothian at the Scottish Young Musician of the Year final on 26 May 2024; commends Will Lucas-Evans from North Berwick High School on being named Most Promising Musician, Daniel Schmitt from North Berwick High School, and Hannah Swinney from Dunbar Grammar School, on being awarded runner up prizes for their performances; understands that ninety secondary school aged musicians performed in their local school competitions to qualify for the final, which saw thirteen soloists performing on the night; and wishes everyone the very best of luck with their futures.
