That this House expresses deep concern at the ongoing persecution of Christians, the most persecuted religious group worldwide, particularly in Nigeria where thousands have been killed and displaced; calls on the Government to take urgent action to protect religious freedom by ensuring that British aid and development funding is linked to the protection of Christians and other persecuted religious minorities; further calls on the Government to strengthen diplomatic pressure on the Nigerian government to apprehend the perpetrators, supporting international efforts to prevent attacks; and also calls on the Government to promote human rights and interfaith dialogue as central pillars of UK foreign policy.
