UK access to the EU SAFE defence fund

EDM (Early Day Motion) 2308: tabled on 18 November 2025

Tabled in the 2024-26 session.

This motion has been signed by 28 Members. It has not yet had any amendments submitted.

Motion text

That this House notes the fast-approaching deadline of 30 November 2025 for the UK to secure access to the EU’s new Security Action for Europe (SAFE) defence fund; further notes that participation would allow UK defence companies to bid for contracts supported by up to €150 billion of EU-backed loans, boosting jobs and supply chains across the UK; recognises that European rearmament is accelerating in response to rising threats from Russia and other authoritarian states; recognises the extraordinary contribution our defence industry can make to the security of Europe and in the face of our shared security challenges; believes the UK should not exclude itself from opportunities to strengthen defence cooperation with key European partners; and calls on the Government to secure UK access to the SAFE fund so that British industry and national security are not left at a disadvantage.
