Motion text
That this House congratulates Somerset FA on winning the Women and Girls Award at the County FA Recognition Awards 2025 for their work in building the Women’s Walking Football Pathway; notes that their Pathway has evolved over the last few seasons, starting with a number of small football festivals and has since developed into a competitive league, engaging over 140 women; understands that the FA County Awards seek to recognise and celebrate projects which have delivered real and felt change within grassroots football; praises Somerset FA for their work in helping to increase local participation in walking football by creating a platform for women and girls; recognises the important mental and physical health benefits by being able to engage in walking football; and calls on the Government to increase its support for the Football Foundation in their work to help improve access to safe sporting facilities for women, equipped with adequate changing rooms, to help create secure and inclusive environments to further participation in football for women and girls.
